It can be fully held, partly sold, or fully realized. - The Asset and Security must already be created. - Realized Proceeds are available for securities in the **Equity - Unit Based**, **Equity - Interest Based**, **Equity - Commitment Based**, and **Debt** security type groups. - To send the proceeds to arkGL, the fund must be assigned to a General Ledger. See [**Sending Portfolio Investment Journal Entries to arkGL**](https://connect.arkpes.com/knowledge/sending-portfolio-investment-journal-entries-to-arkgl?hsLang=en-us). --- ###### **What Are Realized Proceeds?** Realized Proceeds record trailing proceeds on an existing or fully realized position. They increase realized value without changing units or cost. - **Amount** is the cash received, entered as a positive number. - **Non Cash Amount** is optional: the value of non-cash proceeds (for example, securities) received, entered as a positive number. - Units, cost, and the Unrealized view do not change, on all 4 security types. - Realized value and realized gain increase by Amount + Non Cash Amount. How Realized Proceeds differ from similar transactions: - **Sale** reduces units and cost. Realized Proceeds do not. - **Return of Capital** reduces cost. Realized Proceeds do not. The cash and non-cash amounts both count. They are not included in Unrealized IRR. **Example** - You buy for $10,000 on 01/15/2026 and sell for $12,000 on 06/30/2026. Realized IRR: **49.31%**. - On 09/30/2026 you record Realized Proceeds of $2,500 cash + $500 non-cash. - Realized Value becomes **$15,000**, MOIC **1.50x**, and Realized IRR **124.54%**. Cost stays $10,000. The $3,000 shows as its own cash flow in the IRR details. --- ###### **Step-by-Step: Record Realized Proceeds** 1. Navigate to **Portfolio Investments → Investment Transactions**. 2. Click **Add New → New Investment Transaction**. 3. Under **Other Investment Activity**, select **Realized Proceeds**. 4. Select the **Asset** and enter the **Proceeds Date**. 5. Use the **Securities**, **Lots**, and **Funds** filters to choose the lot, then click **Apply**. 6. In **Entity Allocations**, enter the **Amount** (cash proceeds received, as a positive number) and, if applicable, the **Non-Cash Amount** (non-cash proceeds, as a positive number). 7. Review the **Realized Proceeds Summary**. It shows **Total Amount** and **Total Non Cash Amount**. 8. Click **Save**. The fund receives $2,500 in cash and $500 in non-cash proceeds. Record Realized Proceeds with Amount $2,500 and Non Cash Amount $500: - Realized Value: $2,500 + $500 = **$3,000** - Realized Gain: **$3,000** - Units: 1,000 (unchanged) - Cost: $10,000 (unchanged) --- ###### **Uploading and Exporting Realized Proceeds** Realized Proceeds are loaded with the **Non-Purchase Template** from the **Add New** menu on Investment Transactions. Enter the Transaction Type exactly as it appears in the application (**Realized Proceeds**), the source **Lot Id**, the **Transaction Date**, a positive **Amount**, and, if applicable, a positive **Non Cash Amount**. | Field | Requirement | | --- | --- | | Date | MM/DD/YYYY | | Amount | Currency, positive | | Non Cash Amount | Optional - Currency, positive | **Applies To:** Equity - Unit Based, Equity - Interest Based, Debt, Equity - Commitment Based Example Non-Purchase Template row (columns not shown are left blank): | Transaction Type | Lot Id | Transaction Date | Amount | Non Cash Amount | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Realized Proceeds | ASSET00001-SEC00001-LOT00001 | 10/10/2026 | 2500.00 | 500.00 | To export Realized Proceeds in upload format, open the **Actions** dropdown on Investment Transactions and select **Export for Upload**. Each Realized Proceeds row includes its Transaction Type, Lot Id, Transaction Date, Amount, and Non Cash Amount. The file holds Purchase and Non-Purchase rows together, so before re-uploading, move Purchase rows into the Purchase Template and all other rows into the Non-Purchase Template. For upload validation, Upload History, and rollback, see [**Uploading Non-Purchase Transactions**](https://connect.arkpes.com/knowledge/uploading-non-purchase-transactions?hsLang=en-us). --- ###### **Viewing Realized Proceeds on the SOI and in arkGL** **Schedule of Investments** - On the **Realized** SOI, Realized Value and Realized Gain include the proceeds. In the example, both show $3,000. - On the **Unrealized** SOI, the lot is unchanged. In the example, it still shows 1,000 units and $10,000 cost. **arkGL** **Save & Send to GL** appears only when the fund has a ledger. It creates one draft Journal Entry for each entity with a ledger: - Debit Cash for the Amount. - Debit Deemed Distributions for the Non Cash Amount, if one was entered. A cash-only Realized Proceeds has no Deemed Distributions line. - Credit Realized Gain-Loss Direct Investment for the total. In the example, Cash is debited $2,500, Deemed Distributions is debited $500, and Realized Gain-Loss Direct Investment is credited $3,000. Review the proposed Journal Entry and its accounts before clicking **Create Journal Entries**. --- ###### **Best Practices** - Use Realized Proceeds for proceeds that arrive after a sale, not for the sale itself. - Enter cash and non-cash proceeds as positive numbers in their own fields. - Date the proceeds on the day they were received. - Amounts can include commas and cents, for example 1,234.56.
